Dr. Haavik is a graduate of New Zealand College of Chiropractic where she currently serves as Director of Research. She was awarded her PhD degree by the University of Auckland in 2008.

Dr. Haavik has worked in the area of human neurophysiology for the past ten years, utilizing techniques such as somatosensory evoked electroencephalography and transcranial magnetic brain stimulation to investigate the effects of chiropractic adjustments of vertebral subluxations on somatosensory processing, sensorimotor integration and motor cortical output.

Dr. Haavik is widely published, has received numerous research awards and has presented her work internationally. She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics and the Journal of Chiropractic Education.
