PRESS RELEASE

January 4, 2021

RESIGNATION OF VIVIAN KIL AS WFC PRESIDENT

Toronto, January 4, 2021: The Board of Directors announces that Dr Vivian Kil, of the Netherlands, has stepped down from the office of President of the World Federation of Chiropractic. In a letter to the Board, she cited a need to focus on her full-time clinical responsibilities as the owner of a busy multidisciplinary practice in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Dr Kil has served as WFC President since May 2019.

Dr Kil commented, “I don’t think anyone could have foreseen how challenging or how protracted the pandemic would be, and my decision to step down came after carefully evaluating my personal and professional circumstances. I am confident that the decision is right for me and the WFC at this time and look forward to supporting my successor through the transition as well as continuing to represent the European region as a director on the Board.”

The Board wishes to thank Dr Kil for her outstanding service in executive leadership within the WFC over the past 20 months. Secretary-General Richard Brown commented, “The WFC is indebted to Dr Kil for providing strong and dignified leadership during a time when the organization has faced unprecedented challenges. We look forward to her continued presence and wise counsel on the WFC Board.”

The Board anticipates holding elections and naming a new President in January. In the meantime, Vice-President Michele Maiers, of the United States, will be assuming responsibility as Interim President and Board Chair.
