In December 2009 the WFC Council voted to endorse World Spine Care (WSC), a visionary new project led by Dr. Scott Haldeman, Chair, WFC Research Council, which has the goal of helping people in underprivileged regions of the world who suffer from health problems related to the spine. WSC, supported by the World Health Organization through the Bone and Joint Decade is recruiting volunteer health care professionals including chiropractors, physicians and physical therapists to provide core spine care. Volunteer specialists fly in to manage patients referred with serious spinal pathology.

Distinguished members of the WSC Advisory Council include Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu of South Africa. Collaborating centers include Palmer College of Chiropractic and the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. WSC has commenced work in Botswana and plans to open a first clinic in India later this year. For more information go to www.worldspinecare.org.
