Dr Espen Johannessen is a 1982 graduate from Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa. He has been in private practice in his own clinic in Lillestrøm outside Oslo, Norway since 1983.
Since 1986 until 1998 he has served as a board member of Norwegian Chiropractors’ Association, including a term of 4 years as NCA President. He was re-elected to an executive position in 2004 until 2006. From 1989 until 1992 he served as Treasurer for European Chiropractors’ Union. Dr Johannessen has participated in several governmental committees in Norway with respect to chiropractic services, including the development of Guidelines on Low Back Pain and the Board on Internships for Chiropractors. In 2015 he completed his MSc in musculoskeletal ultrasound.
Dr Johannessen was elected to the Council of the World Federation of Chiropractic as a representative of the European Region in 2006 and prior to that was a member of the WFC’s Task Force on Identity (2003-05). He currently serves as Immediate Past President of the WFC.
